>> at eleven. police swarm a san jose neighborhood when an officer is nearly run over. and a woman is shot. detailstwo - thousand rape cases in need of resolution in alameda county. now new money coming in to help bring closure. next. >> tonight two people are in custody after being injured in a police shooting in the southern part of san jose. kron four's jeff bush explains how it all started. with an investigation into a suspected car theft. this is where it happened, on the 1800 block of almaden road. police were called out to this location around 4:30 in the afternoon to investigate a stolen vehicle. when they arrived here on scene they found a man and a woman in that stolen vehicle. the woman was in the drivers seat the cuffed man was in the passenger gear and hit one of those officers with the car. in this sihe officer felt his life was in danger. he felt in fear for his life and he did what he had to do and discharged his firearm. the woman driver was shot at least one time and taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. the male passenger was injured as well b

(male announcer) this is the bay area news station, kron 4 news starts now. >> tonight - a man is in surgery after being shot by police in castro valley. police were responding to a call from his family -- saying he'd been threatening others inside the family home. the man then called police himself, saying if they arrived - he'd shoot. police later found the suspect hiding in a bush in a driveway pointing what police believed was a gun. police shot him - and then discovered it was a home- made replica. they have not released details of the man's condition -- or his identity. parents in san leandro may be holding their children a little tighter tonight. as kron four's philippe djegal reports. police are investigating an attempted child abduction at an elementary school. >> reporter: ten minutes before school let out tuesday aft

bundles. >> the family of a san jose woman, who police believe was murdered by her former boyfriend. is speaking out tonight. 29-year-old sandra cruzes was allegedly stabbed to death by juan ramirez. now the family says, ramirez had been stalking and threatening cruces for months, despite a restraining order against him. right now, the suspect - this man -- juan ramirez is still on the loose. investigators say he may be attempting to flee to mexico. they also say, he is possiby driving a dark green, 1996 toyota t-100 pickup truck. similar to the one you see on your screen. newly released documents are telling us more about adam lanza. the gunman in the massacre at the newtown, connecticut grade school who wound up killing himself. a search warrant shows. investigators found more than 14-hundred rounds of ammunition at his mother's house. and inside lanza's bedroom, they found: a gun safe, a shoebox with bullets and samurai swords. authorities also found a holiday card written to adam from his mother. inside was a check for the purchase of another firearm. police say, lanza killed hi
